Outstanding Bird Photography

Well, not really. But this beautiful White Ibis was out standing when I took this shot. Does anyone know why birds stand on one foot? Google it. I’ll bet you’ll be as surprised as I was.

Have a Great Weekend!

  1. RE: “why birds stand on one foot?”

Because if the bird also picks up that one it will fall down. 🙂

  2. Nice picture indeed, Jeff.
I’m following with interest your birdian posts, I was used to your (wonderful) landscapes and the birds came as a nice surprise to me. As I’m myself interested in this kind of photography, all your advise and techiques are more than welcome.

    Thanks!

  3. I bet it’s to conserve body heat… especially if they lived here this morning when it’s 9 degrees out. Did you know that vultures will sometimes poop/mess on their own legs to cool them off? Birds don’t really pee, so it all comes out in one go, and they will poop on their own legs as the evaporation helps cool them off. Sick huh.

Nice shot, I am beginning to think you just live in a bird metropolis. Hopefully I can get some shots soon as I plan to hang some feeders this weekend.
