Wings Over Houston – Thunderbird Close-Up

Here’s another image from last weekend’s shoot at the Wings Over Houston air show. This Thunderbird F-16 had just completed it’s takeoff maneuver and was beginning a vertical ascent so it was only traveling 200 mph or so.

The more of these images I review in Lightroom 2, the more impressed I am with Canon’s EF 300mm f/4 L IS USM lens. The sharpness of this glass is superb and I’ve found almost no chromatic aberration or vignetting in the images I took.

Shot taken with a Canon 40D hand-held, EF 300mm f/4L IS USM at 300mm, f/8 for 1/500th of a second at ISO 200 on SanDisk digital film. All post capture processing was done in Lightroom 2 and Noise Ninja. Click on the image above for a larger version.

Here are a few reviews of this lens just in case you find an extra $1200 (USD) laying around or burning a hole in your pocket.
